Heresy and Pride
I've kind of stalled out on The Cobalt Heresy the last week or so. It's just the way I am, I'm afraid...I'm one of those 'boom or bust' types. The good news is that I'm churning through the difficult part of the story to write, and once I break on through to the other side I should be good for a run.
Middleton's Pride: No Middle Ground is doing great! I'm glad that it's easily identifiable as a few degrees off of Josh's work, while at the same time staying true to the universe and not creating much consternation. That's always a little bit tricky when it comes to writing in someone else's universe - especially when the entire storyline for that universe is already in the author's head. Josh has the entire Spineward Sectors story mapped out in his head, and finding ways to squeeze in a storyline that meshes with the mainline novels can be challenging, but I think we managed to pull it off.
So the plan for The Cobalt Heresy is still a late-next-month release. That's maybe being optimistic, but I'm hopeful. I've got the cover in hand, and seeing as I'll be serving as my own editor I think it's going to be a quick one out the door after the rough draft is complete. I'll be releasing three novels simultaneously - unless I get bogged down too hard here, in which case I'll release two novels with the third shortly thereafter - along with, at current count, four novellas. The purpose of the novellas is simply to flesh out the peripheral story, because The Cobalt Heresy is a fast-paced, take-no-prisoners ride and I don't really stop to smell the roses with the mainline novels. So my hope is that readers will want to explore some of the reveals a little more in-depth after completing a novel. It might be a waste of time, but I like to provide options :)
